2 Methods for Providing Technical Business Support

29 September 2011 No Comment

Technology is used in every business today and this requires a huge amount of management. There are two key methods in which you can organise technical support for your company: either in-house or outsourced. This article will consider the benefits of in-house and outsourced IT support.

1. In-house support

In-house support has both positives and negatives. The positive element is that your support team is always at hand a ready to support you face to face. This allows for the easy communication of a problem and generally allows the problems to be fixed faster. However, the cost of in-house support is much larger than that of outsourced support. The cost is actually far greater than would be expected because you not only need to pay the support team full-time wages, but also need to have the space in which to place them as well.

  • IT support

In-house IT support is very effective because they are ‘on the ground’ as it were and able to see the problem as a tangible entity. This generally enables the IT technician to fix the problem swiftly and efficiently. If there is more than one system which crashes however, you may not have the resources to fix them both at once.

  • Call centres

With regards to call centres and the technical support that they provide to customers, it is a very difficult choice when it comes to outsourcing or remaining within the company. Remaining within the company is a very costly exercise which will require huge amounts of space, management, and the employment of numerous staff. On the other hand, customers do prefer to talk directly with the company when seeking assistance with your product, so outsourcing can have a negative impact on the quality of service.

2. Outsourced support

When outsourcing technical support you can save large amounts of money for your business and make it more profitable in doing so. It is important not to sacrifice quality of service for reduced costs however. Outsourced support offers the expertise of numerous professionals for a low cost which will enable you to get the best for less.

  • IT support

When outsourcing business IT support you will be able to save large amounts of money because you will not need space internally for the support team and you will not have to pay full-time wages. Having IT support which is outsourced will enable you to contact multiple professionals at all times and they will be able to quickly solve your problems. Whilst it will be slightly more complicated than face to face repair of your systems, you will be able to reach your goal easily by providing simple requests and following the instructions you receive.

  • Call centres

Outsourced call centres are an interesting element of business. Whilst they save vast amounts of money, time, and space for the manager; the quality of service is often impacted. When outsourcing call centre operations it is important to ensure that all of the staff are well trained because this will be your first point of contact for your customer.
