Suffering From Hearing Loss
Estimates from a study done by Johns Hopkins study done in 2012 show that over 26 million of Americans over the age of 50 currently suffer from some kind of hearing loss. Not being able to hear friends and family clearly affects the quality of life of these individuals, however, it seems that many people are not getting hearing aids. According to that same study, only about one in seven in this group have purchased a hearing aid.
So why do an overwhelming majority of this group choose to go on suffering from hearing loss? It seems there are a myriad of reasons. First, many in this group do not see their hearing loss as that being very severe. However, this is often not the case, as many people experience gradual hearing loss over time, meaning that they may simply not realize how bad it has gotten.
Fortunately, many places that sell hearing aids in Seminole offer free hearing tests to anyone who needs one, meaning you can find out just how bad your hearing really is. Once you do, you might change your mind about needing that hearing aid!
