How to create thumnails for articles
When you have written or are writing an article you can add images to the Media Gallery as
explain in the ‘How to Post Articles’ topic. It is possible to select an image from
the Media Gallery to display as a thumbnail for your post when it appears on the
NewsreelNetwork.com homepage.
Step 1: Find Image Location
In the Media Gallery select the image you want to use as your thumbnail for the article.
Look at the ‘Link URL’ section. You need to take note of the last few parts of the URL.
as you can see below, the URL stored is
http://www.newsreelnetwork.com/wp-content/uploads/floorstickers.jpg
floorstickers.jpg the name of the image used in this example.
You need to select and copy or write down the last three parts of the URL.
e.g
wp-content/uploads/floorstickers.jpg
as this is needs to be placed in the ‘Advanced Options’ section.
![]()
Step 2: Make a custom field
Select the ‘Custom Feilds’ tab under the ‘Advanced Options’ section
![]()
Then in the ‘Key’ field write the word ‘Image’
and in the ‘Value’ field place the last three parts of the URL form Step 1
e.g
wp-content/uploads/floorstickers.jpg
![]()
Click ‘Add Custom Field’ and then save your post. Your article will now have a
thumbnail image set for it for when displayed on the homepage. This will also allow
your post to have a thumbnail image if your article is chosen for the Headlines or
Featured sections of the main page.
